We’ve pulled together a snapshot of TFC and the NI subsidy scheme and what they mean for parents.
This might be helpful for parents who are eligible for Tax Free Childcare for their children up to age 12 - but not currently using it and could receive up to £2,000 a year towards their childcare bill.
It may be helpful for parents who are eligible for and using TFC, whose children are below school age and will also be eligible for the NI childcare subsidy from September.
It may also be helpful for parents who are eligible for TFC but not using it, who could be eligible for both TFC and the NI childcare subsidy from September.
It’s a complex system with more detail to come - we know there are some parents not claiming TFC when they could be. The key take away is to ensure that if you’re eligible for Tax-Free childcare support - to claim it! This will mean if you’ve a child under school age, you’ll be ready to claim the NI childcare subsidy for September.
